Why WFH?
WFH is the common acronym for “work from home”. In 2014, I was hired for my first remote position and have had a home office ever since. In fact, for the past nine years, I have only worked in an office, at best, half the time. My husband has been working from home exclusively longer than that.
During those nine years, eight of which we lived together, so we ideally needed two home offices. How did that work? Well…. in one home, we shared an office. In another, I worked from the dining room while he worked in the family room. I’ve kept my work station in 3 living rooms. I had an actual room for my home office for a bit that was then invaded by our second born. Eventually, he pushed me out of his room. And finally, we refinished a portion of our basement and I moved into a dedicated office (and secondary guest room) that I can truly make my own.
Whenever my office was located in a public area of the house, I had a difficult time mentally separating from work once the workday was done. If I could see my work station while we were eating dinner or watching tv, I couldn’t fully disengage from work.
So you might be wondering, why base your brand on the concept of WFH? Well, during the COVID-19 pandemic, WFH took on a whole new meaning for me. While we were all locked in our homes, striving to keep our families safe, our houses became everything to us — a place where we work, play, stress, and relax. It became evident that a “home” is so much more than a “house”.
I am no longer satisfied with the notion of a home that is merely a place for sleeping, cooking, and preparing for the day. It is where we are raising our children, where I honed my culinary skills (a work in progress) and developed my love for Thomas Keller during maternity leave. It’s where we are teaching our children how to play video games the appropriate way - starting with the original Nintendo. Our home is where we have truly poured our hearts into.
And that is precisely what I am to assist my clients with — to find a home that aligns perfectly with their lifestyles and needs while helping them achieve their goals.
